Founded in late 2007, The Camomilla Quartet is an instrumental quartet featuring steeldrums, and playing a range of styles, notably Latin, jazz, calypso, and world music. Band leader Emily Lanxner (AKA “Camomilla”), has been performing on the steeldrums for over twenty years. While earning her degree in multi-cultural studies and music from Burlington College, she made several extended trips to Trinidad, where she studied and performed with many of the top steelbands in the country. Her jazz performing history began with an extended residency in New Orleans in 1993, where she performed regularly with two local groups. She founded PanAshé Steelband in 1992, and more recently, The Camomilla Quartet. She currently resides in Hardwick, Vermont.

John Rivers is currently the jazz bass instructor at the University of Vermont. A graduate of the University of Miami, he has recorded and toured with Arturo Sandoval, Othello Molineaux, Ray Vega, Hal Garper, Rachel Bissex, James Harvey, and Randy Brecker.

Geoff Kim is a Vermont-based guitarist, clarinetist, and composer. He attended Hartt School of Music and Ithaca College, and received a BA in music from the University of Vermont. Currently a resident of Burlington, Kim leads the 10-piece Latin-jazz group, Guagua, and performs with the gypsy-tinged Trio Gusto and Balkanica, a Balkan brass band.

On the drum-set, Geza Carr is a highly sought-after performer and recording artist in the Burlington and central Vermont area. He began his music career at age nine as a member of PanAshé Steelband, which he left in 2005 in order to pursue his busy schedule as a jazz musician. He has been featured in numerous CD releases, backing up artists such as Kate Paradise, Dan Skea, and Bryan MacNamera. He is a member of Magic City Orchestra, which provided instrumentation for Anais Mitchell’s operatic touring production of “Hadestown”.
